HAND

John Furrey, MD, is concerned with his patients' ability to work and have their best hand function. As a Board Certified hand surgeon he performs the following procedures:

Trigger Finger Release

Resulting from tendon inflammation, trigger finger can cause the fingers and thumbs to become stuck in a bent position. Not only does trigger finger lead to a great deal of pain and discomfort, but it can also impede your ability to work and enjoy your favorite activities. Fortunately, Dr. Furrey can repair trigger finger by creating a tiny incision and releasing the tight section of the flexor tendon sheath. The patient will be able to go home the same day.

Dupuytren's Contracture Surgery

A serious hand disorder, Dupuytren's disease causes scar-like bands of tissue to develop inside the fingers and palms. Beginning as a tender palm lump, Dupuytren's eventually results in the formation of tough tissue bands. Left untreated, the condition can restrict movement and affect both form and function of the hands. To treat Dupuytren's, Dr. Furrey creates a small incision over the affected cords and removes the fibrous tissue. In most cases, the patient will require post-surgical physical therapy to restore length and movement to the fingers.

Carpal Tunnel Release

Resulting from excess pressure being inflicted on the median nerve, carpal tunnel syndrome can lead to pain and numbness in the hands and fingers. At John Furrey, MD, our team treats the condition with carpal tunnel release surgery. After creating a small incision in the wrist, Dr. Furrey will divide the transverse carpal ligament into two parts; relieving the pressure on the nerve.

Trauma Surgery

Along with preexisting injuries and conditions, Dr. Furrey treats various hand traumas including lacerations, fractures, and crushing injuries.
